
The human body keeps its own time without ever announcing it. Time (Vital Clock) builds a clock out of those rhythms — not hands and numbers, but the involuntary cadences the body runs in the background of being alive.
Three rhythms
The piece reads three human vitals and maps each to a channel:
- LED — blinking. An adult blinks about 12 times per minute, each blink lasting roughly 1/3 of a second. The LED mirrors that cadence.
- Balloon — breathing. A balloon inflates and deflates at an adult's resting rate, 8 to 16 breaths per minute, driven by an air pump and relay.
- TFT display — yawning. Humans yawn five to ten times a day. Each would-be yawn draws another circle on the screen, accumulating through the day like a sparse, irregular log.
Together the three channels tell time the way a body does — unevenly, in different scales at once, with the rarest signal carrying the most weight.
