A sculptural reimagining of Hundun — one of ancient China's Four Perils — as a modern, abstract, playful creature built to be assembled by hand.

In the old texts, Hundun has a body like a dog and long fur, four feet like a bear but without paws, eyes that cannot see, ears that hear, a mind that understands human beings, and a perfectly straight intestine. There is no definitive image of him; every depiction in the tradition is someone else's guess. That gap is the space this piece works in.

The form is deliberately simple and abstract, pulled away from the usual "monster" silhouette toward something closer to a toy. Inspired by modular art toys found online, joints and moving parts are essential — the viewer is meant to pick it up, rearrange it, and discover its proportions through play rather than through a single fixed pose.
